Custom Clothing from eShakti

Well, as some of you might know, I recently placed an order on eShakti for some custom clothing. I've purchased off-the-rack sized clothing from them before and the quality was superb so when I was looking online for plus-size clothing, they were one of the sites I immediately navigated to.

One of the main reasons I decided to go custom rather than the usual "prêt-à-porter" is that, I've gained weight over the last 2 years of my life due to a lot of very heavy personal and familial stress so, truthfully, I've just not been "feelin' myself" as Queen Bey would say.  To try and cheer me up a bit, I decided that custom was definitely the way to go.

I'm about to get all 'real' up in here so let me say that, truth be told, I have a very negative body image so I VERY RARELY show my full body in any photo. Doing this is me overcoming a HUGE hurdle. I'm still not sure how I feel about these full-bodied photos but I did promise to show you all how my purchases actually looked and, well, a promise is a promise.

I want you to know that, regardless of how I feel about myself when I look in the mirror, I do believe that every woman deserves clothes that not only fit her correctly, but that she can also feel pretty in--even if only for an evening. Negative self-talk can really be detrimental but, the right clothing can really make a woman feel amazing. I know this.

So, without further ado, here are my purchases (click any of the headings for the direct link to the product)!

Linear graphic print mixed media midi dress

Okay so when I first pulled this out of the bag with shaking hands, I thought to myself "pleeeeeeeeese fit and look nice on me"! Well, great Zeus' thunderbolt--it fits like a DREAM and gurrrrrl, it has POCKETS! The quality of this dress is gorgeous and it made me feel super pretty. I love the layers in the skirt and the wrap-like top hugs all the right areas. I customized the sleeves to be "elbow length" on this one. Verdict: Well, I guess I'm going to have to find some red carpets to walk down!

Contrast trim chambray stripe shirt

I've been looking for a nice dress shirt for a while and what attracted me most to this on was its elongated cuffs. I mean, how sleek are these cuffs? Again, I love the quality of this shirt but, sadly, the thing that I loved the most--the cuffs--are a bit too tight and I'm not sure if the buttons can be moved. Also, the shirt is too loose so something must've gone wrong with my measurements on this one. I did not alter the original style of this shirt--I liked the look of the whole thing as-is. Verdict: Although I love this dress shirt, I need to make a decision on whether or not I'll return it or if I'll contact one of my friends who is a local seamstress to see if she can work her magic on it. I'm leaning more toward the latter.

Embellished bell sleeve cotton chambray blouse

I think out of all my pieces, this one is probably my favourite. I can see myself wearing it the most. Casual and pretty. When I talk about quality of eShakti clothing, this piece has it in spades. The embroidery on this blouse is stunning. I feel like I should be wearing flowers in my hair like a true hippy. I customized this one to be "low hip length". Verdict: I love it to "peaces"!

Floral embellished sash tie cotton knit blouse

This is me basically saying, "I have no idea how to pose". Anyway, you can't really see the floral needlework in this one but, ermagherd, it's so pretty! I think my favourite part of this top is the lengthily wrap-around sash. That sash combined with the peplum silhouette hides a multitude of late-night Häagen-Dazs Whiskey Chocolate Truffle binges! It's basically super-rushing. I customized this one to be "low-hip length". Verdict: It's a keeper!

So , there you have it. 3 out of 4 ain't bad and I know I'll find a good solution for that pin-stripe top so I'd say my first custom order with eShakti is a success. Here's some quick info about my order:

Total cost: $273.47 USD / Oder placed: Aug. 23rd / Order arrived: Sept. 12th

So, what's your verdict?  Do you think you might consider ordering anything from eShakti? Let me know in the comments!
